She is the press secretary for the Montgomery County District Council and was campaign manager for Marc Elrich during his last run for county supervisor.
Woorman was selected by the district’s Democratic Central Committee and confirmed by Governor Wes Moore to fill the seat previously held by Sara Love, who is now a state senator for the same district.
After taking the oath, Woorman described herself as a childless cat owner. She was born in Mexico and is a graduate of the University of Maryland.
“I really appreciate your trust in me,” she said, calling being named a state delegate her second greatest honor. The first was the naturalization ceremony where she became a U.S. citizen, she said.
