A man was hospitalized following a shooting at Buffalo Wild Wings in south Columbia late Saturday night.

The suspect, Alexis Gonzalez, was arrested on numerous charges and the restaurant remained closed Sunday for cleanup.

This incident is part of a series of shootings that have recently attracted attention in Columbia, even as the city’s overall violent crime rate has dropped by 16.8 percent.

Two-vehicle collision in Lincoln County results in injuries

A 73-year-old woman suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle collision on Route H in Lincoln County on Saturday.

The accident occurred after a 17-year-old driver failed to yield the right of way. She was taken to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital West, while the other driver was uninjured.

Governor Mike Parson has appointed Andrew J. Hardwick as district judge for the 26th Judicial District of Missouri following the promotion of Judge Matthew P. Hamer to a judge on the Missouri Court of Appeals.

Hardwick, a resident of Versailles, is the owner of the law firm of Andrew J. Hardwick and has an academic background in biology, law and biochemistry.

Hardwick will serve as a district judge in Camden, Laclede, Miller, Moniteau and Morgan counties.

Motorcycle accident in Jefferson City leaves one injured

On August 15, a motorcycle collided with a car in the Walmart parking lot in Jefferson City. The motorcyclist was seriously injured and was thrown from the vehicle.

The car driver was uninjured, but both vehicles suffered significant damage.

Alcohol is suspected to have played a role; the incident is currently being investigated by Jefferson City Police.

The FDA is expected to approve updated Covid-19 vaccines from Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech as early as this week.

The updated mRNA vaccines will be available soon after approval. Moderna’s vaccine is expected in stores in the next few days. Novavax’s protein technology-based vaccine targets the JN.1 strain and is expected to be available later this month.

The approval came because the SARS-CoV-2 virus is reaching “very high” concentrations in wastewater, indicating a clear peak in the summer.
