The annual Buckmasters Expo draws many outdoor enthusiasts to downtown Montgomery each year. This year, the event is also looking for volunteers to help with canned food donations.
The event is all about hunting, fishing and all things outdoors. This year, the Montgomery Convention Center will have more than 300 booths featuring bull riding, pig racing, an archery competition and many other activities.
Entry is a can of food or a $1 donation. The food goes to Friendship Mission, which helps the homeless in our area and runs a soup kitchen.
This is where volunteers come in. People are needed to collect the canned goods and bring them to the trucks in front of the convention center.
Friendship Mission is looking for people to commit to a two-hour shift on these days and at these times:
Friday: 2:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Saturday: 8:45 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Sunday: 9:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Reception staff are needed to welcome Expo visitors and collect donations, as well as strong people to roll shopping carts full of canned goods to trucks and load the cans from the carts onto the trucks.
