Virginia Walsh, 81, died Friday, August 9, 2024, at Southern NH Medical Center in Nashua after a brave battle with cancer.

Ginny was born on May 18, 1943, in New Britain, Connecticut, to the late Theodore and Florence (Humason) Skinner. Ginny was predeceased by the love of her life and her husband of 44 years, Thomas Walsh, and her brother Richard.

Ginny loved her family and enjoyed any opportunity or event where she could see her children and grandchildren. She loved traveling, shopping, roses, and restaurants, but most of all, the beach. She single-handedly ran the card business, promptly sending out cards for all occasions with personal messages in her beautiful handwriting (and if you were lucky, a crisp $2 bill). She loved high-quality baked goods (scones were her favorite) and kept the cleanest house you’d ever seen. An avid sports fan, she was always at the games (especially golf). She loved her dog, Dublin (who was her daughter’s dog until Ginny moved in and changed that).

Ginny’s legacy is one of selfless love, kindness, dignity and strength. She taught us how to be the best versions of ourselves.

Born and raised in New Britain, Connecticut, Ginny was a dedicated daughter who always put her family first. In the mid-1960s, she began working for the Hartford Electric Light Company, where she met Tom. She married in 1968 and couldn’t start a family fast enough. After living in Pittsfield, Massachusetts for several years, where they made and maintained many friendships, Ginny and Tom moved the family to Nashua, New Hampshire in 1980. Always the hardest worker, Ginny began working full-time at Southern NH Medical Center when the children were old enough. For over 30 years, she was a key member of the central care department and was able to socialize and make friends all over the hospital. She often found an excuse to spend more time in the infant room so she could see the newborns. She was very proud of the vacation home she and Tom had purchased in The Villages and grateful for all the great friends they made in Florida.

Instead of being angry about Tom’s death in 2012, Ginny was grateful for the wonderful life they had built, the success of their children, and the love and laughter they shared. Now her journey continues.

Ginny’s family would like to thank the team at Foundation Oncology and the staff at SNHMC for the wonderful compassion and care they gave to Ginny and her family during her illness.

Ginny leaves behind a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Cheryl Walsh of Brentwood, NH; a daughter and son-in-law, Carrie and Christopher Dawe of Nashua, NH; and a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Angela Walsh of Nashua; her seven beautiful grandchildren: Kelsie, Lindsey, CJ, Ryan, Kylie, Aiden and Sheridan; and her 5 granddogs whom she adored. She also leaves behind her brother, Robert Skinner of Torrington, CT; and her brothers-in-law, John H. Walsh of Newington, CT, and Edward and Ethel Walsh of Phoenix, AZ; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who loved her so much.

Ginny loved flowers and bright colors. Please wear flowers and bright colors to services this week in her honor.
