Two people arrested during traffic stop in Ruston

A Lincoln Parish sheriff’s deputy stopped a Cadillac Escalade in Ruston around 3 a.m. on August 9 because the vehicle did not have a visible license plate.

A check of the driver’s records, Robert Bernard Crew, 59, of Ruston, revealed that he was wanted for failure to appear in Ruston Municipal Court on a hit-and-run charge.

Passenger Shadarria S. Hammock, 38, of Ruston, was investigated on three warrants issued by the Third District Court.

Hammock was arrested and placed in a patrol car. When asked if she wanted to take her purse, Hammock insisted on leaving it in the vehicle. When Crew was arrested, he gave his consent to search the vehicle. Two glass pipes containing methamphetamine and a bag of methamphetamine were found in Hammock’s purse.

Hammock was arrested at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to appear in District Court on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to properly supervise a minor by a parent. Crew was arrested on charges of hit and run.

This information was provided by a law enforcement agency as public information. Individuals named as suspects in a criminal case or shown in photographs or videos, or who have been arrested and charged with a crime, have not been convicted of a crime and are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
