PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Two local volunteer fire departments were among 30 fire departments in the state of Virginia to receive funding from Columbia Gas of Virginia.
The Smithfield and Carrollton volunteer fire departments, as well as several others from different areas of Virginia, received grants averaging about $1,500 each.
“We have a long history of working hand-in-hand with local volunteer fire departments across Virginia. They are a critical partner when it comes to natural gas safety and emergency response,” said Jennifer Montague, president and chief operating officer of Columbia Gas of Virginia. “We are proud to provide these grants to support their hard work, dedication and commitment, and to continue to build stronger relationships with our first responders.”
These contributions were made possible by the NiSource Charitable Foundation, the philanthropic organization of Columbia Gas’s parent company.
