Baltimore, MD — Residents in northeastern Maryland and southwestern Maryland as far south as Charlottesville, Virginia, should prepare for possible thunderstorms on Monday. The U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a low risk of severe weather for the region and is forecasting thunderstorms during the afternoon that could bring gusty winds and heavy rain.

According to the NWS, thunderstorms are likely to develop throughout the day, with a 40% chance of precipitation in Baltimore and the surrounding area. Temperatures are expected to reach 82°F in Baltimore, adding to the instability needed for storms to develop. Areas in the marginal risk zone include major cities such as Frederick, Alexandria and Washington, DC

The forecast for the rest of the week shows more stable conditions. Clear skies and lower temperatures are expected from Tuesday, with highs between 24 and 27 degrees Celsius through the weekend. Highs of 24 °C are expected on Tuesday, while Wednesday and Thursday will see sunny skies between 24 and 27 degrees Celsius.

Residents are advised to stay up to date on weather warnings and take necessary precautions during possible thunderstorms on Monday.
