STERLING – The 102nd Lincoln Highway Men’s Golf Tournament, a cherished tradition since 1922, once again brought together a remarkable collection of golf talent from northwest Illinois.
Sterling Park District and Emerald Hill Golf Course had the honor of hosting the tournament. With a field of 66 elite golfers, the event lived up to its reputation as a premier amateur competition. The unique tournament format, spread over 10 excellent courses, offers a varied and challenging experience. The “best-against-bogey” style of play tests not only skill but also endurance, as competitors must complete 54 holes over two consecutive days.
The involvement of multiple clubs, each contributing a team of six, fosters the community spirit and rivalry that is vital to the event’s ongoing appeal. As the longest-running tournament of its kind in the United States, it is a testament to the region’s deep-rooted passion for the sport and its commitment to celebrating and promoting golf.
