PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – If you’re ready for a preview of fall weather in the Pittsburgh area, you’ll like today’s forecast.
Will there be an alarm in the next few days? None
Consciously: The last time we didn’t reach the high of 70° in Pittsburgh was on June 10th (67°).
Rumor has it that a certain coffee franchise will be launching their newest fall flavors by the end of the week. While I’m not privy to corporate communications and don’t have any inside information, if the rumor is true, this is the perfect week to launch the flavors. Today marks the start of our first real chilly and fall-like weather snap. The weather will stay until at least Thursday. Are you ready?
The last time Pittsburgh didn’t reach 21°C was over two months ago.
On June 10th we reached highs of 67°. This is notable because today we are on the verge of seeing highs below 70 degrees. I’m expecting 70 today. On Tuesday and Wednesday I’m expecting highs in the 60s, but it will be close to 70 degrees. The reason for the cooler days is a low pressure system that moved in from Canada. This is keeping our temperatures in the 850mb at or just below 10°C. Temperatures in the 850mb will recover by the end of the week and we should see more summery weather by the weekend.
While fall weather is expected for most of the week, at least this morning we’re still dealing with summer humidity and dew points around 18 degrees. As you’ll recall, temperatures can’t get below the dew point, so temperatures this morning are around 15 degrees. It’s mild. As cooler air moves in, dew points will drop pretty quickly. This afternoon at 4 p.m. I have dew points around 10 degrees. Tomorrow morning I have dew points around just 4 degrees (!!). While dew points are dropping, I’m going to keep a small passing chance of rain in the forecast. That will continue tonight. If you see anything, it will be some drizzle and drizzle. Skies will remain mostly cloudy.
Today is the day when it has the highest chance of rain.
Morning lows are expected to drop to around 10 degrees. In most places, lows will drop to around 5 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
Then we’ll see a pretty strong return of summer with highs well over 27 degrees on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, highs will be 32 degrees.
