TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – More than 50,000 students began a new chapter in their lives today in Tallahassee.
Florida State University and Florida A&M University began the fall semester on Monday and officially welcomed the class of 2028.
The campus was bustling with activity on Monday afternoon as students made their way to the first day of classes.
The FSU received almost 80,000 applications for only 6,000 study places in the first year of study.
FAMU has now welcomed almost 1,400 new students to the university.
Noah Morgan, a freshman accounting major at FAMU, said FAMU is very proud of the school and he looks forward to being surrounded by smart, hard-working people.
“It was very exciting, I met a lot of new people and on the first day everyone was very friendly so it was great,” Morgan said. “Everyone was happy to be here, people complimented each other and yes, the professors were great too.”
