Unlike Ford, which always comes up with a plethora of new releases, Lincoln is more sporadic. The parallel universes of automotive CGI don’t seem to like all this very much, and sometimes give instructions to the fantasy world of digital auto content creators to shake things up a bit.

Just think about it for a moment. This month alone, Ford’s namesake brand unveiled the 2025 Ford Police Interceptor Utility by Ford Pro, began deliveries of the redesigned Ford Explorer, and announced the facelift for the 2025 Maverick unibody compact pickup with four-wheel drive for the hybrid variant, as well as an all-new Maverick Lobo trim level with performance upgrades for street truck fans.

The only notable thing Lincoln has done since announcing the all-new Nautilus in March was to tie the Ford Explorer’s sales launch to the related 2025 Lincoln Aviator, as both will be produced at the same plant – Chicago Assembly in Illinois. Well, the rumor mill doesn’t love automakers who like to laze around, so here’s Oscar Vargas, the virtual artist better known as wb.artist20 on social media who continues to dream of car accessories that OEMs can only produce if the bosses in the boardroom give them their approval.

More specifically, the pixel master is thinking about reviving the Lincoln Mark line of luxury cars, which was launched in 1956 as the Lincoln Continental Mark II. The original was discontinued in 1960, but revived in 1969 and continued for six generations until 1998. For most of its lifespan, it was offered as a two-door coupe, but there were also convertible models (1958 to 1960) and four-door sedan models (1958–1960 and 1980–1983).

Well, the CGI expert remembered how the Lincoln Continental Mark VII was scaled down when it was introduced in 1984, and because it shared the Fox platform with the Ford Mustang “Fox Body”, he decided to try again, this time with the help of the current S650 of the seventh generation of the 2024 Ford Mustang. This is how we meet his 3D concept of a possible revival of the series, of course titled Lincoln Mark IX and based on the Mustang GT with the 5.0-liter Coyote V8.

Frankly, that’s not a bad idea, because the Ford line has the $60,000 Dark Horse and then jumps up to $325 with the 800-hp Ford Mustang GTD flagship. So there’s a lot of room in between. So Lincoln could turn the S650 into a sleeker, wider Mark IX two-door coupe that offers a little more luxury and a lot more power than a Mustang GT or Dark Horse. So what do you think? Is it doable or not?
