Storms in South Georgia lead to fallen trees and power lines

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – Downed trees, power lines and more damage are being reported as storms move through Sunday, August 18.

County Doughery

In Doughery County, a tree has fallen and is blocking the road in the 2400 block of Schley Avenue. According to an official, Albany Utilities has already zoned into the area and has cleared the construction.

Traffic lights are out of order at:

N Washington Ave/Pine Ave – In flash model

N Magnolia St/Gillionville Rd – In lightning mode

Grady County

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), downed trees were reported in the Calvary area.

Mitchell County

The NWS reported that several downed trees were reported in the Camilla area of ​​Mitchell County.

Randolph County

According to Marlon Coleman, director of the Randolph County EMA, downed trees and power lines were reported throughout the county, but the majority of them were in Cuthbert.

The National Weather Service (NWS) reports a power outage along Blakely Street south of Cuthbert.

Coleman told WALB that emergency crews are currently working with firefighters to clear the debris.
