PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Although several mistakes contributed to the Steelers’ loss to the Texans on Friday, undrafted rookie cornerback Beanie Bishop impressed many.
The Steelers fell short of expectations. Lost to Houston 20-12 on Friday at Acrisure Stadiumbut Bishop was one of the highlights of the game.
“He’s a feisty little guy,” Steelers defensive coordinator Teryl Austin said. “You could see that when he came in and blitzed that one running back and knocked him over a little bit.”
The former West Virginia University Mountaineer has been described as “feisty” on several occasions.
Bishop says that although this was his first NFL game, he was able to play with a spirited team.
“I always have a chip on my shoulder,” Bishop said. “Even when I’m done playing. I always have a chip on my shoulder just because of the way I grew up and things like that. It’s just something that never leaves me.”
“He’s in the thick of the race for the starting nickel (cornerback) position, so that’s a good thing,” Austin added.
The Steelers continue their preseason preparation on Saturday when they host the Buffalo Bills.
Kickoff at Acrisure Stadium is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and you can watch the game on KDKA-TV.
