CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. – An argument at a car meet on Aug. 7 took a deadly turn and ended with the fatal shooting of a King William County mother.

Two women are under arrest and facing charges in connection with the murder of 21-year-old Kayla Healey.

According to Crime Insider sources, an abandoned stretch of Battery Brook Parkway in Chesterfield County is frequently used as a nighttime hangout and race track. This was the case on August 7.

“Kayla was fascinated by cars and racing, she loved street racing. Even as a little girl she was a fan of the drag racing track,” said Kayla’s mother Alice Watkins.

After seeing a social media post about a car meet, Kayla decided to attend.

“I spoke to my daughter around 10:30 a.m. and she told me she was at a car show and felt like there was going to be an argument,” Watkins said.

According to police, an emergency call came in one hour and nine minutes later reporting that a shot had been fired at the gathering.

“She was not only my daughter, she was my best friend. She was my whole world,” Watkins said. “The only little girl I had, and now she leaves behind two beautiful little girls.”

Kayla Healey, mother, daughter and wife, had an early life.

On Monday, two women were arrested by U.S. Marshals in Fairfax County. Both were charged with aggravated assault with intent to commit suicide, a charge that will most likely be upgraded.

“I want justice for my daughter. Life without parole for both of them. Not just one, but both,” Watkins said.

Both women appeared in court in Chesterfield County on Thursday morning and are due back in court on October 9.
