Rod Stewart breaks his silence and denies rumors of a “fight” with Penny Lancaster | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Rod Stewart has hit back at claims his marriage to Penny Lancaster is in trouble. The legendary musician, 79, took to Instagram to criticise rumours of a growing ‘rift’ between the couple.

He began: “We wanted to make things clear. There is absolutely no argument between Penny and I, nor any disagreement about where we should live, quite the opposite. We returned to our beloved Britain a year ago, but are lucky to have homes in other countries that we enjoy visiting.”

The rock icon continued: “We originally thought it would make sense to sell our home in LA, but after spending a wonderful time with family and friends there during my stay in Vegas this summer, we realized it made sense to keep our home there.

“Two of my oldest children still live at Celtic House (the LA residence). Penny and I couldn’t be more in love after 27 wonderful years. Please trust me… there is no disharmony in our marriage.”

He captioned the post: “Rod ‘a very lucky man’ Stewart.” Sir Rod’s statement came after reports that Penny, 53, was “furious” because her husband refused to leave their LA mansion.

The couple had reportedly decided to sell their Beverly Hills home and move permanently to their £4.3 million country estate in Essex, but Sir Rod had reportedly changed his mind and the couple had reached a “stalemate” over the disagreement.

“Penny has no plans to return to LA, which she is not thrilled about, while Rod has no plans to return there at the moment,” an insider told MailOnline. “They are at a standoff and Penny is furious that Rod has gone back on his word. Right now it’s about saving their marriage.”

The nine-bedroom property was for sale, according to the publication, but the Maggie May singer “rejected two offers.” Earlier this month, Sir Rod was forced to cancel the highly anticipated 200th show of his Las Vegas residency, The Hits, after coming down with a sore throat.

In a heartfelt message to his fans, the rock icon expressed his deep regret and apologized for being unable to perform, saying: “Most people can work with a sore throat, but obviously I can’t.”

Two more concerts were cancelled just days later as Sir Rod battled Covid. A statement read: “We regret to announce that tonight’s Rod Stewart concert in Stateline, NV and his August 10 show in Lincoln, CA have been postponed as the singer recovers from a summer bout of Covid-19.”
