Rod Stewart clarifies his marriage to Penny Lancaster.
After several media outlets published stories reporting turmoil in the couple’s marriage, the 79-year-old rocker deleted the “erroneous articles” in a statement.
“We wanted to set the record straight,” Stewart wrote on Instagram on Thursday, August 29.
“There is absolutely no rift or disagreement between Penny and I about where we should live, quite the opposite,” he continued, before addressing a specific claim that the long-term couple – who married in June 2007 – were arguing about whether to move permanently from Los Angeles to the UK.
“We moved back to our beloved UK permanently a year ago, but are lucky enough to have homes in other countries that we love to visit,” he wrote. “We originally thought it would make sense to sell our LA home, but after spending a wonderful time there with family and friends while I was in Vegas this summer, we realized it made sense to keep our home there.”
In addition, Stewart said, two of his eight children still live in the couple’s LA home.
“Penny and I couldn’t be more in love after 27 glorious years. Please trust me on this… there is no disharmony in our marriage,” he added, before signing the statement, “Rod ‘a very lucky man’ Stewart.”
Stewart and Lancaster, 53, first met in 1999 after the “I Don’t Want to Talk About It” singer split from ex-wife Rachel Hunter.
Recalling his sweet meet-cute with the British-born former model in 2021, Stewart told PEOPLE: “Rachel broke up with me on a Monday night and it was heartbreaking. Nobody leaves Rod! But that Saturday night I met Penny at the Dorchester Hotel in London.”
“The bass player in my band, Carmine, said, ‘Listen, you’ve just come out of a long nine-year marriage. You’re not ready.’ I almost strangled him!” he continued, laughing. “Six months later, he gave me her phone number and she came over.”
“She healed my heart in more ways than one,” he added at the time.

The “false” reports about Stewart and Lancaster’s wedding come about two months after the couple celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary.
On Monday, June 17 – the day after their official anniversary – the musician posted a snap of himself and Lancaster shared by his son Alastair’s girlfriend Eloise Darlington, captioning it, “Celebrating 17 years of love.”
Stewart then gushed about the time they had spent together, adding: “25 years together and no warning signs.”
