Police officers ready to protect visitors to the Nebraska State Fair

August 23, 2024 (Grand Island, NEB.) — The Nebraska State Fair has officially begun. Nebraska State Patrol officers will be working hard to ensure the event is safe for everyone. The fair will run through Labor Day, September 2, at Fonner Park in Grand Island.

“The State Fair is an exciting experience for many Nebraskans,” said Captain Dean Riedel, commander of Troop C based in Grand Island. “This year’s fair promises to be another great experience and our Soldiers will be patrolling the fairgrounds to ensure everyone has a safe and fun time.”

Show attendees are invited to visit the NSP booth in the Pinnacle Bank Expo Building to learn more about the agency. Kids can get their own Trooper hat, shoot basketball at the Become A Trooper, watch an NSP drone flight and meet Troopers from across the state.

In addition to the NSP booth, police officers and investigators will be working throughout the show in a variety of ways, such as using bicycles and all-terrain vehicles. Visitors in need of police assistance can contact one of the officers patrolling throughout the show, visit the NSP booth in the Expo building, or go directly to the NSP Security Office in the Fonner Park Racing Office.
