Pittsburgh running back Jaylen Warren out for “several weeks” due to thigh injury

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren has sustained a thigh injury and will probably be out for several weeks due to these complaints.

NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported the news on Sunday, noting that Warren’s status for the season opener against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, September 8, is now in jeopardy.

Warren is coming off his second season in Pittsburgh, where he rushed for 784 yards and four touchdowns and caught 61 passes for 370 yards. He is a versatile tackle that the Steelers will miss in his absence.

The hope in Pittsburgh was that Jaylen Warren could take on an increased workload to help starters Najee HarrisInstead, Harris will have to fill the gap.

There is also the potential that Cordarelle Patterson could be used more from the backfield, which has been a weapon with versatile functions for several years now.

The Steelers have already had problems on offense this preseason. In the two preseason games so far, they have only scored 15 points.

So the goal will be to get Jaylen Warren back as soon as possible.

Cornerback Anthony Averett also leaves the game

Like Jaylen Warren, Cornerback Anthony Averett left his team’s preseason game against the Buffalo Bills on Saturday night with a hamstring injury. The severity is unclear, but he did not return to the game.

Averett entered the league in 2018 after being selected in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He was selected by the Baltimore Ravens with the number 118 overall pick. He signed his one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers on May 12, 2024. He has played 51 games so far in his career. Overall, Averett has recorded 114 tackles, three interceptions and 23 pass deflections.

The Steelers had several players with injury problems. Linebacker Pauline Wilson suffered a concussion that forced him to leave the game and not return. Slot Corner Beanie Bishop did not play for the Steelers after sustaining an injury during the team’s joint practice with the Buffalo Bills.
