PFF lists only three Georgia Bulldogs on its list of the 50 best CFB players

Pro Football Focus recently released its list of the 50 best college football players, and three Georgia Bulldogs made the list:

Malaki Starks: No. 13, No. 2 Security

Starks was a true freshman in 2022, but that didn’t stop him from becoming an impactful player right from the start. The young player outpaced all UGA defenders with 847 snaps. He totaled eight interceptions and forced incomplete passes, ranking fifth among all SEC safeties.

In 2023, his PFF run-stopping score of 84.8 ranks fifth among all safeties in the Power Five conferences. He is the favorite to be the best safety taken off the board in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft.

Carson Beck: No. 14, No. 1 quarterback

The early Heisman favorite is, unsurprisingly, the best quarterback on this list, but he’s coming in a little later than expected.

Beck had an impressive season last year, totaling 3,941 yards, the most in the SEC and third most in the country, on 302 completions and 417 attempts. Beck finished 2023 with 24 touchdowns, six interceptions and a passer rating of 167.9.

His 72.4% completion percentage was also the fifth-best in the country. His season also put him in the UGA record books, with the second-highest completion percentage (behind Stetson Bennett in 2022), the second-most passing yards in a season (again behind Bennett in 2022) and the fourth-highest passer rating behind Bennett (176.69 in 2022), Aaron Murray (174.82 in 2012) and Jake Fromm (171.21 in 2018) in UGA history.

Tate Ratledge: No. 38, No. 1 guard

Tate Ratledge is the best guard on the list due to his dominance in pass blocking. He had a strong PFF pass block grade of 87.4 in 2023, ranking third among all Power Five guards. He also ranked third in lowest pressure rate allowed (1.3%) and PFF pass block grade on true pass sets (83.8).

Already in his first year as a starter in 2022, he showed his dominance with the fourth-best pass blocking grade (87.1), the third-lowest pressure rate allowed (1.4%) and the second-best pass blocking grade in real pass sets (85.6).

One notable outsider is edge rusher Mykel Williams of Georgia, who is often touted as a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
