Penny Lancaster shared an emotional update as Sir Rod Stewart publicly admitted his “days are numbered” following a series of health issues. The legendary singer’s wife broke her silence on social media after the music icon was forced to cancel his 200th show in Las Vegas due to health reasons.
Sir Rod Stewart’s wife Penny returned to social media to share a heartwarming snap with her family, shortly after the singer regretfully announced he would miss his 200th gig in Las Vegas due to health reasons. The rock legend, who will soon celebrate his 80th birthday, was due to perform on stage but revealed he had suffered a serious health setback just hours before the show.
Rod shared his deep disappointment with his fans and admitted: “Most people can deal with a sore throat, but obviously I can’t.”
He was devastated and continued: “I am absolutely devastated. I have been looking forward to this concert for so long. I deeply regret any inconvenience this has caused. Thankfully we will now return in 2025 and I hope to see you all there.”
To lighten her mood, Penny posted an adorable family photo on Instagram on August 17 and simply captioned it: “Beautiful memories.”
The image spread joy among her followers and was originally posted by Nicola Stewart, Sir Rod’s daughter-in-law who is married to his son Liam. Sir Rod happily poses at the centre of the family photo, wearing a snappy white blazer and striped trousers as he playfully crouches next to Sean, his eldest son.
The merry ensemble was joined by his wife Penny and their two sons Alastair and Aiden, with his daughters Ruby and Renee Stewart also joining in the fun. Just a month ago, the legendary musician spoke about facing mortality with courage and not letting the fear of death overshadow his life as he looks forward to celebrating his 80th birthday.
Although he admits his “days are numbered,” he remains determined to live his remaining years to the fullest. In an interview with The Sun, Rod explained that he will continue to party even in the final years of his life.
“I know my days are numbered, but I’m not afraid,” he said. “We all have to die someday, so we’re all in the same boat.”
“I’m going to enjoy these last few years as much as I can. I’ll say a few – probably another 15. I can do that, mate, easily.”
The father of eight, who survived both prostate and thyroid cancer, said he is “more conscious of his health now than he was before.”
