Patrick Payton, defensive end of the Florida State football team, has signed his first NIL contract.

Payton is part of a newly launched Powerade marketing campaign called “Commitment Takes More.”

“I’m just blessed to have this opportunity,” Payton told the Tallahassee Democrat. We did it last week and I’m excited about the opportunity.

This marketing campaign includes other potential NFL prospects for the 2025 NFL Draft, such as Georgia quarterback Carson Beck, LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, USC wide receiver Zachariah Branch and Iowa running back Kaleb Jonson.

Powerade released its new commercial on Thursday, featuring Payton and the other top college football players. For Payton, starring in a commercial was like a dream.

“It’s like when I was a kid and I saw all the athletes around the world in commercials and wished I could be one of them one day,” Payton said. “This is an opportunity I would not take for granted.”

FSU is a partner of Powerade/Body Armour. Last year, Jared Verse received a NIL contract from Powerade and will begin his rookie season with the Los Angeles Rams after being selected 19th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Payton follows Verse’s lead as he begins his junior season for the Seminoles.

He recorded 12 sacks and 12 pass defenses in his first two seasons at FSU. He posted an All-ACC performance last year and has emerged as a highly touted NFL prospect, projected as a first-round pick in the NFL Draft.

FSU started 0-1 after losing to Georgia Tech last Saturday in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic in Dublin, Ireland.

The Seminoles will look to bounce back and get their first win when they face Boston College at Doak Campbell Stadium.
