***Press release from the Democratic Party of Nebraska dated August 15, 2024***
Nebraska Democratic Party delegates endorse Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz as Democratic Party presidential candidates
LINCOLN, NE – The Nebraska Democratic Party (NDP) and its 34 delegates have officially endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz as the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee. We look forward to supporting Vice President Harris and Governor Tim Walz and receiving the only electoral vote from Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District.
The Chair of the State Party, Jane Kleeb, who also serves as the Chair of the Delegation, stated: “Nebraska is proud to stand with Kamala Harris and Tim Walz and pledge our support to them. The new energy across the state means more volunteers are knocking on doors and reaching out to voters at the neighborhood level. The Kamala Walz ticket represents a new generation of Democrats ready to continue the work that Joe Biden spent 50 years of his life building. Democrats will have a ticket that looks and sounds like America, ready to deliver for the many, not the few, and to develop a new vision for America.”
In addition to our delegation announcing our support for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, we also voted to encourage the Harris-Walz slate to hold regional town hall meetings (Midwest, West, South, East) where state parties in the regions send voters to discuss important issues like climate change, immigration, reproductive rights, and racial equality with them in a public forum. Given the short time frame of the nomination process, we know how important it is for voters to have the opportunity to engage directly with Harris and Walz.
The NDP is pleased to announce the following delegates and alternates elected during the state convention who will represent Nebraska at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago, IL in August. These 34 individuals are a modern example of diversity and diverse socioeconomic backgrounds that embody the values and program of the NDP.
