An Orange Air Quality Alert is in effect for Alexandria and the rest of the DMV region, meaning air pollution levels today could become harmful to sensitive groups.

The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) has issued the warning for today (Tuesday) and tomorrow (Wednesday).

These groups include children, people with asthma, heart disease or other lung conditions, and the elderly. COG said people in these sensitive groups should keep their outdoor activities shorter and less intense.
