After suffering a hamstring injury during the preseason, Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren could be out for a while.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Warren could be out for “a few weeks” and his status for the Steelers’ first game of the season against the Atlanta Falcons is still unclear.

Warren went undrafted by Oklahoma State in 2022 and has developed into a solid player. In his second NFL season in 2023, he had 784 rushing yards and four touchdowns, while also recording 370 receiving yards on 61 receptions.

He left Saturday’s preseason game against the Buffalo Bills after having only one possession.

With Warren potentially out, the Steelers will look to running back Najee Harris after another solid season last year. The fourth-year halfback has over 1,000 rushing yards in each of his first three seasons and will look to repeat that in 2024.

In addition to Harris, Pittsburgh is hoping for a good performance from Cordarrelle Patterson, who joined the Steelers this offseason. The veteran has yet to break out in the NFL, but Warren’s absence could be a great opportunity for Patterson to have a successful year.

The Steelers’ offense struggled early in the preseason despite new quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, and they hope that missing Warren won’t further hinder their progress.
