The Florida State University graduate began her career with the capital’s postal service in 1998, the press release said.
Cobbs is scheduled to take the oath of office on Thursday, August 15.
The news comes after it was learned in April that there was no postmaster overseeing operations in Tallahassee prior to Cobbs’ announcement.
The USPS has been dealing with several complaints from Tallahassee residents about delivery service issues in Leon County and the surrounding area.
These complaints led Leon County Commissioner Brian Welch and Tallahassee Congressman Neal Dunn to work together to investigate the reported problems with the delivery service.
