Nebraska loses 0-2 to Oklahoma State in season opener

The No. 6 Nebraska football team kicked off the 2024 season with a matchup against Oklahoma State. The Huskers battled the Cowboys in Lincoln but were unable to prevail. Oklahoma State took the win with a quick 2-0 victory.

Nebraska shot 22 times in the loss, but only had four shots on goal against the Cowboys’ defense. Oklahoma State shot 13 times in the game, but had five shots on goal, two of which resulted in goals.

Neither team was able to score in the first half, but Oklahoma State broke through in the second half. The Cowboys scored early in the 67th minute to take a lead over Nebraska. Oklahoma State tied the game with its second goal in the 75th minute.

Belzile Florence led Nebraska’s scoring efforts with two shots on goal, while Reese Snowden and Kayma Carpenter each added one shot. Sarah Weber led the team with six shots on goal, while Sadie Waite had four shots in the loss. Sami Hauk had five shots blocked.

Nebraska starts the season 0-1-0 and will stay at home to host Colorado State on Sunday afternoon. The game is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. and can be viewed on B1G+.
