Morgane Metraux of Florida State takes third place in the first round

PARIS – Florida State’s Morgane Metraux, playing for her native Switzerland, is tied for third place with a score of 2 under par and 70 strokes after the first round of the 2024 Women’s Olympic Golf Championship at Le Golf National. In the race for a gold, silver or bronze medal, Metraux trails only the first-round leader (Celine Boutier of France, 1, -7) and the second-place golfer (Ashleigh Buhai of South Africa, 2, -4) after the first 18 holes of play.

Metraux shares third place with Gaby Lopez from Mexico, Uribe Mariajo from Colombia and Vu Lilia from the United States.

Metraux made birdies on the final two holes of her first round and has a medal chance with her first round score of 70. She was three strokes under par with three birdies on the final six holes of the round. Metraux made four birdies during the round.

Metraux finished the round as one of four golfers under par. The top 11 golfers were all within six strokes of the individual leader after the first round, while a group of five golfers just one stroke behind are currently outside the medal positions.

Metraux will begin play at 3:11 a.m. (local time) and will play in the second round with Azahara Munoz (Spain) and Bianca Pagdanganan (Philippines). The group of Metraux, Munoz and Pagdanganan will play as the second group from the starting tee in the second round.

Metraux, a two-time All-American at Florida State, is making her Olympic debut.

The Golf Channel will televise the 2024 Women’s Olympic Golf Tournament.
