Jason Cokinos, Commander of the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) 3rd District, expressed his frustration, stating, “More juvenile car thefts/arrests…😡,” after several incidents involving juveniles and stolen vehicles occurred on Thursday, August 15.
Cokinos wrote: “What is outrageous is that the behavior is reckless and dangerous. Yesterday, in one incident, a @mcpnews 3rd Precinct officer was injured (thankfully only minor) and in another incident, the juvenile offender attempted to ram several police cars in an unsuccessful escape attempt:
– Officers in White Oak discovered an occupied stolen car, after which a police car was intentionally struck (pictured) and a juvenile was taken into custody.
– Officers later located another stolen vehicle fleeing toward PG County, which we did not pursue for safety reasons.
-Officers then spotted another stolen vehicle on New Hampshire Avenue where our plainclothes officers approached the vehicle to apprehend the juvenile offender. Rather than immediately surrender, the juvenile attempted to ram several police cars and then jump out the vehicle window and flee…unsuccessful and was apprehended.”
More car thefts/arrests of teenagers… again… 😡
