Mercer partners with the Technical College System of Georgia to develop career paths in healthcare
MACON – Mercer University has partnered with the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) to develop opportunities for technical college graduates to enroll in high-demand healthcare fields.
“By mapping transfer equivalencies to Mercer’s health science programs, TCSG students will be able to see how their courses transfer to Mercer,” said Mercer Vice Provost Dr. Kelly Reffitt. “This added transparency will help students maximize their earned academic credits while completing their education and preparing for a career in the health field.”
Through the partnership, customized health care pathways were developed for each of the TCSG system schools to maximize the number of credits students can earn toward Mercer’s health care programs.
“Mercer and TCSG have worked together for nearly two decades to create pathways for TCSG students to achieve their educational and career goals,” said Theo Anderson, Mercer’s associate vice president for enrollment management. “In particular, this agreement will provide graduates of TCSG programs the opportunity to build on their strong academic foundations and advance into high-demand health professions while meeting the growing need for talented and capable health professionals.”
The partnership was celebrated during a signing ceremony on Thursday, August 8, on Mercer’s Macon campus. The ceremony was attended by: From Mercer: President William D. Underwood, Executive Vice President Dr. Penny L. Elkins, Dean of the College of Professional Advancement Dr. Priscilla Danheiser, Vice Provost and Professor of Education Dr. Kelly Reffitt, Dean of the College of Education Dr. Thomas Koballa, Dean of the School of Business Dr. Julie Petherbridge and University Registrar Alba Rodriguez. From TCSG: Provost Greg Dozier, Chief of Staff Mark Peevy, Deputy Provost Ray Perren, Director of Allied Health Curriculum Tammy Bryant and President of Central Georgia Technical College Dr. Ivan Allen.
“Today’s signing between TCSG and Mercer University represents our commitment to providing seamless educational pathways for our students,” said TCSG Officer Greg Dozier. “This partnership ensures our students can transition smoothly into graduate programs at Mercer, expanding their opportunities and enabling them to meet the growing needs of Georgia’s healthcare industry. Together, we are creating a better future for our students and the communities they will serve.”
