TEAM NEWS

Isiah Cornet will undergo a scan ahead of Saturday’s match after being substituted in the 24th minute against Hebburn Town on Tuesday night, while Lucas Reed is still a doubt following an injury sustained during pre-season.

WHAT WE SAY

After our 1-0 home defeat, Nobby Solano said: “We are disappointed. I think the team did well for most of the game.”

“We played very well, played good football, but that is not important because the most important thing is to win the game.

“I think we created a lot of good chances, the team reacted very well, but we are all disappointed.”

OPPOSITION

The Dolly Blues finished ninth in the Northern Premier League Premier Division last season under their manager Chris Willcock, who was appointed on 12 January 2024.

They started the season strongly with a 3-2 win over Basford United on the opening day and salvaged a 1-1 draw with Workington through Nic Evangelinos’ 95th-minute goal, leaving them sixth in the league table.

WHAT THEY SAY

After the last-minute heroics to rescue a point, Chris Willcock said: “It’s a nice way to take something from the game (Evangelinos’ 95th-minute goal).

“I think we started the game really well, we passed the ball purposefully and sometimes there were a bit too many sideways passes for my liking, I had the feeling we were playing ahead of them.

“For much of the first half we didn’t create much space between the lines and we have to give them credit for how well we defended.”

LAST TIME OF OUR MEETING

The sides last met on 15 December 2018 in the first round of the FA Trophy at Giant Axe, where the Spartans claimed a 3-0 away win. Michael Liddle, Dan Maguire and Jamie Holmes all scored on the day to send the Spartans through to the second round where we played Boreham Wood at home.
