Maida E. Miller, 101, of Quarryville died Saturday, Aug. 17, at Lancaster General Hospital – SolancoChronicle.com

Maida E. Miller, 101, of Quarryville, passed away on August 17, 2024, at Lancaster General Hospital.
She was born in Baltimore, MD, to the late Austin Witscomb Vaghan and Frances Ellen Jeffries, and graduated from Asbury Park High School, NJ, in 1941.
Maida was proud to have been present at the launch of the first Liberty ship, the Patrick Henry, and many Victory ships at Bethlehem Steel Fabricating in Curtis Bay, MD during World War II.
As a young woman, she enjoyed leading the Air Wing Girl Scout Troop 714 and roller skating.
She retired from the Chesapeake-Potomac Telephone Company of Maryland after 26 years of service in data processing and moved to East Drumore Township, Lancaster County, where she enjoyed living among friends and neighbors for 44 years. During her time there, she volunteered at Quarryville Elementary and Country View Manor.


Her husband, Theodore (Ted) Nelson Miller, and her daughter, Carol Miller Lieber, predeceased her.
She leaves behind her niece and nephew, Donna and Arthur Schulz of Albany, NY, and many friends, young and old, here and everywhere. She will be sorely missed by those who heard her loud laughter and enjoyed her life full of stories.
A service will be held Sept. 5 at the Little Britain Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 255 Little Britain Church Road, Peach Bottom., 2024 at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to your local chapter of the Girl Scouts of the USA.
