Long-standing Lancaster store in New York to close soon

Soon, buyers in the Village of Lancaster will have to find a new location.

After 22 years, Save-A-Lot in the heart of Lancaster Village announced it will close its doors next month.

According to a post on their Facebook page, their last day will be September 7. They did not disclose the reason for the closure in the post.

We are sad to announce that we will be closing permanently on Saturday, September 7th. We appreciate the support the people of Lancaster have given us for 22 years and we will miss being part of this community. We also want to thank our dedicated staff for their hard work in serving the community for so many years.

They thanked all customers and employees who have remained loyal to them over the past 22 years.

There have been some rumors that a Dash’s or other grocery store might move into the neighborhood where Save-A-Lot is located, but nothing is confirmed.

The good news is that there are still several Save-A-Lot locations in Western New York State. The closest location to the Village of Lancaster is in West Seneca at the corner of Union and French Roads.

Save-A-Lot isn’t the only retail store closing in Western New York. Last week, Big Lots announced that they will be closing some stores here in Western New York. According to a press release from Big Lots, the two stores in Linden Corners on Delaware Ave. and the location in South Ogden will be closing.
