As the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office reported on Monday, August 12:
On 8/6/2024, officers were dispatched to an address on Herb Mitchell Road in the Town of Bradley for a report of a domestic incident. The victim, a 69-year-old woman from Oshkosh, reported being the victim of a domestic dispute between her and her fiancé, a 64-year-old man from Irma. While on the phone with dispatch, the victim reported that the male suspect had armed himself with a shotgun. When officers arrived at the scene, the victim was able to exit the home and was evacuated by officers. The man remained barricaded in the home armed with the shotgun. As a result, the Lincoln County Special Response Team was activated and arrived at the scene. The team’s negotiators were able to make contact with the male suspect by phone and, in a conversation lasting several hours, convinced him to surrender to SRT members without incident. The victim was taken to a safe location for the night. She was not injured. The suspect was transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was arrested for domestic disturbance and assault. Additional charges are pending. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Merrill Police Department.
On 8/6/2024, officers were dispatched to an address on Joe Snow Road in the Town of Scott for a report of an out-of-control juvenile damaging their home. The parent reported that the juvenile was punching holes in the wall and attempting to get the car keys to leave. The first officer arrived on the scene and made contact with the juvenile. After a few minutes, the officer reported that they deployed their taser to bring the juvenile under control. The juvenile was then taken into custody and transported to Aspirus Merrill Hospital for a medical evaluation. The juvenile then met with Lincoln County Social Services before being transported to the Washington County Juvenile Detention Center. The juvenile was taken into custody for criminal damage and resisting arrest.
On 8/7/2024, officers were dispatched to the area of the W7000 block of CTH Z in the Town of Scott for a suspicious person report. It was reported that it appeared as though a male subject was scouting the residences in the area. At the time, the male was driving a black Dodge Charger. It was later learned that the vehicle had been stolen in another jurisdiction. Approximately 45 minutes later, MPD was dispatched to a suspicious person report where an individual matched the description of the suspect from CTH Z. The suspect, a 20-year-old Wausau man, was taken into custody by MPD on other charges. After the arrest, a Sheriff’s Office officer located the stolen black Charger on Hilly Road in the Town of Scott. Immediately after the stolen car was located, the Sheriff’s Office received a call from another citizen who lives on Hilly Road reporting that his pickup truck had been stolen. This vehicle was then found on CTH Z. It was later discovered that the suspect had stolen another vehicle from CTH Z and abandoned it in the city of Merrill, where MPD officers had contact with the suspect. The suspect is believed to have been involved in vehicle thefts in other counties as well. He was transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was arrested for evading bail and operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.
On 8/8/2024, an officer was dispatched to the USH 51 Truck Stop on Brandenburg Avenue in the Town of Scott to file a report of theft. The truck stop reported that a male offender had been arrested for stealing a pack of cigars. When the officer arrived on scene, he made contact with the suspect, an 18-year-old male from Fort Gay, WV. The male offender stated that he stole the cigars because no one would buy them for him and he had no money left for his vaping device. The suspect was out with his family at the time. The offender was taken into custody and transported to the Lincoln County Jail.
On 8/8/2024, officers and an MFD ambulance were dispatched to an address on Grundy Road in the Town of Birch for damage to R/P’s home by an out-of-control juvenile. The juvenile’s grandfather had reported that the juvenile was damaging his home and not behaving properly. When officers arrived on scene, they located and made contact with the 17-year-old Merrill juvenile. The juvenile was transported to Aspirus Merrill Hospital for a medical evaluation and then taken into custody for domestic disturbance. The 17-year-old juvenile was transported to and booked into the Lincoln County Jail.
On 8/11/2024 an officer was dispatched to the boat launch on Dean Road in the Town of Bradley to report a report of property damage. The officer reported that while at the boat launch a vehicle drove into the parking area at a reckless speed and doing donuts. In doing so, the suspect’s vehicle kicked up several rocks that struck the officer’s vehicle, damaging the paint. The suspect and vehicle are described as a blue Ford Ranger with a roof and something white on the back that looked like a sticker. The driver is described as an older white male with gray hair and a beard. Contact was made with neighbors in the area who reported they had been having issues with this vehicle for some time. At this time, the case remains under investigation.
The officers carried out 31 traffic stops and 15 security checks.
Officers were called to eleven accidents between cars and deer and one between cars and bears.

The emergency call center received three hung-up calls and nine annoying calls.
