Lancaster police seek information on shooting and car theft

LANCASTER – Lancaster police are asking for the public’s help after two separate incidents that occurred early Friday morning.

On August 16 at 3:28 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at the Timbertop Apartments, 2200 North Columbus Street. The caller informed police that three unknown men were in the area and were attempting to break into parked vehicles. During the confrontation, one of the men displayed a handgun and fired shots in their direction. No injuries were reported.

The suspects fled toward Lowe’s and the entrance to River Valley Highlands and are still at large.

Later, at 3:47 a.m., LPD was called to a vehicle crashed on an access road to the Midtown Apartments, 1300 Community Way. The vehicle involved in the crash was stolen from the Relax Inn, 1327 River Valley Boulevard, by an unknown male shortly before the incident.

It is currently unclear whether there is a connection between these two incidents.

The LPD is actively investigating and is asking the public for assistance. If you have video footage or information regarding these incidents, please contact Detective Humbert at 740-687-6680 extension 4539 or [email protected]. To provide an anonymous tip, email [email protected].
