Kenyan who claimed to be Tom Mboya’s son was found dead days after his emotional viral video

  • George Gerry Mboya was unfortunately found dead a few days after his discharge from Overland Park Regional Medical Center due to liver failure.
  • Mboya had appeared in a video in which he reported on his homelessness, and his phone had also been switched off
  • After he was found dead on July 31, his body was cremated and his ashes will be transported to Kenya for burial in the presence of his family members.

A Kenyan man named George Gerry Mboya was found dead just days after he tearfully pleaded with internet users for help.

Where is Overland Park Regional Medical Center?

In a video shared by Obuyu Onalo, Mboya is seen relatively clean but ailing and slurring his speech. At one point, he broke down while speaking of his predicament, his health condition and losing everything.

“I am Tom Mboya’s youngest son. I lost everything; I was at Overland Park Regional Medical Center for six months because my liver failed,” he said.

The hospital is in Kansas, USA, and when he was discharged, he had nowhere else to go. A Good Samaritan offered him some money so he could stay in a motel.

“I don’t even have a phone with me. It was turned off because I couldn’t make the payments,” he said tearfully.

CLARIFICATION

After consulting with the two Mboya families, I can clarify that George Jerry Mboya (Kobi) committed Asusi on a tree in a park in the USA last week.

He suffered from depression in the USA. He was cremated yesterday at the request of the family. He was not Tom Mboya’s son (Mboya ma or Kidero Mboya ma Mboya).

The patron helped him and the two agreed to meet the next day. It has since been established that the young man died shortly afterwards, on July 31st.

According to a Facebook poster, Mboya was cremated on August 9 and his ashes will be transported to Kenya for a family burial; a funeral announcement will be made at a later date.

“A full life, a life of peace, a gentle spirit and one of the best. Now resting deep in peaceful earth. Lots of memories to be cherished forever,” he read elsewhere in the post.
