Prewett and Troutt became engaged in July 2022 after eight months of dating and married just three months later, in October 2022.
During their wedding, which took place at Troutt’s parents’ home in Dallas, Texas, the couple exchanged vows in front of 400 friends and family members, including Bachelor Nationwide favorites Victoria Fuller, Hannah Ann Sluss and Kelley Flanagan.
“We chose this venue because it’s unique and special to us and it means so much to us to have all of our friends and family there,” Prewett told PEOPLE exclusively of the celebration. “I’ve always wanted to get married in the fall and we wanted a short engagement period, so it couldn’t have been more perfect.”
The couple got engaged just days before their nine-month anniversary.
Prewett said she had “no idea the proposal was coming,” but her future husband’s “plans changed several times” before he settled on his final idea. It took him weeks to plan the beach proposal, and he met “constantly” with Prewett’s family and friends to get everything right.
“He was supposed to come to Florida with me and my friends, but he got sick and couldn’t come,” she explained to PEOPLE at the time. “I thought we were going to celebrate one of our friends’ birthdays. I was told we were going to take birthday pictures on the beach, and when I came down, my best friend led me to the bathroom where my mom and sisters were with the dress I was going to get engaged in.”
“At that moment I knew,” she added.
Fans first met Prewett – a speaker, author and social media influencer – as a candidate on Peter Weber’s Bachelor season, which airs in 2020. She ultimately finished second behind Hannah Ann Sluss, although Prewett briefly reconciled with Weber after breaking off his engagement to Sluss.
