Harris launches bus tour of Western Pennsylvania from Pittsburgh

Vice President Harris began her bus tour of Western Pennsylvania from Pittsburgh on Sunday – just one day before the Democratic Party Convention begins on Monday.

Harris and her running mate, Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, arrived at Pittsburgh International Airport on Sunday, where they and their spouses greeted supporters, The Associated Press (AP) reported. They held hands and raised their arms in front of cheering supporters holding signs for their campaign, according to AP.

According to the AP, they then boarded a blue bus with “Harris Walz” written on it in white letters and drove off to meet voters in the Pittsburgh area.

The Harris campaign announced last week that it would court voters in Western Pennsylvania ahead of the Democratic National Convention on Sunday. Harris, Walz, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff and Minnesota First Lady Gwen Walz will make several stops in the region on Sunday.

The AP reported that the four first visited a campaign office in Beaver County, where former President Trump won the 2020 election.

According to AP, Harris, Walz and their spouses sat at some tables to talk to voters on the phone.

“We are all in the same boat,” Harris said at one point, the news service reported.

“He’s fully committed,” Walz once said after hanging up the phone and giving a thumbs up.

Walz also posted a photo of himself, his wife, Harris and Emhoff on social media platform X with the caption “Roadtrip.” The four posed for a selfie in front of the tour bus.

Harris has gained momentum in recent weeks as many national and swing-state polls show her narrowing the gap with Trump. She has a 1.8 percentage point lead over Trump overall, based on 120 polls, according to The Hill/Decision Desk HQ national polling average.
