According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, the Georgia football club suffered a setback in player recruitment after four-star defensive tackle Christian Garrett withdrew his commitment.
BREAKING NEWS: Four-star DL Christian Garrett has decommitted from Georgia, he tells me for @on3recruits. The 6’4 278 DL from Bogart, GA had been with the Bulldogs since June. He was rated as a top 5 DL in the 25 class (according to On3) 👀
Garrett originally committed to play football for Georgia in June, but he has apparently changed his mind, as college football fans are now left guessing again as to which school will sign the Bogart, Georgia native. Garrett has received a total of 24 offers, according to 247 Sports, including from other major programs such as the Alabama Crimson Tide, Tennessee Volunteers, Ole Miss Rebels, South Carolina Gamecocks, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Florida Gators, Clemson Tigers and Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
It also appears that the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are the favorites to sign Garrett; On3 gives that possibility an 88.4 percent chance.
Even though Garrett is retiring from his commitment to the Georgia football team, the Bulldogs still have an impressive total of 22 commitments for the 2025 season, including a five-star player (according to On3) in Isaiah Gibson and over 15 four-star players.
The news of Garrett’s departure from the Bulldogs program comes just days after he seemingly pledged his loyalty to the Georgia football team.
“I’m a Georgia kid who plays for the G,” Garrett said, according to Benjamin Wolk of Dawgs247.
“It’s always the same. They’ve never changed. They’ve stuck with me throughout the whole process, which means a lot to me. It’s been pretty good. We have a great relationship and now we’re just focusing on the season.”
This latest development adds even more excitement to Georgia’s pursuit of the state’s most promising five-star players, Justus Terry and Christian’s Elijah Griffin, both of whom have been contacted by Garrett.
“We’re really just telling them about Georgia,” Garrett said. “They know what we know. It’s really just a matter of time now.”
