Great morning! Florida State opens the 2024 college football season today against Georgia Tech in Dublin, Ireland.

After winning the ACC in 2023, expectations are high for FSU football. The Seminoles went 13-0, were snubbed by the College Football Playoff Committee, and then were crushed by Georgia in the Orange Bowl after dozens of players opted out of the game. Stars like Jordan Travis, Johnny Wilson, Keon Coleman, Jared Verse and Braden Fiske are gone. And offensive coordinator Alex Atkins isn’t practicing this week because he’s serving a suspension.

Coach Mike Norvell has once again reshaped Florida State’s football team through the transfer portal. Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei wants to regain the impact he had at Clemson. Receiver Malik Benson is ready to become the star he couldn’t be at Alabama. And Marvin Jones Jr. is expected to form another dominant defense alongside Patrick Payton.

Don’t underestimate the Yellow Jackets. Coach Brent Key is turning around the Ramblin’ Wreck, leading them to a 7-6 record and a Gasparilla Bowl win in his first full season as head coach. Quarterback Haynes King is a true dual threat: He threw for 2,842 yards and 27 touchdowns last season and rushed for 737 yards and 10 touchdowns. And although Georgia Tech’s defense was a mess in 2023, new defensive coordinator Tyler Santucci is expected to find the same success he had at Duke.
