Friday, August 16

  • Support the Friends of the Claremont Library by purchasing a half-price book or other item through August at the Claremont Helen Renwick Library, 208 N. Harvard Ave. Library hours are Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Tuesday and Wednesday from noon to 8 p.m.
  • The Pomona Office of Violence Prevention and Neighborhood Welfare is hosting a free and open to the public light event Friday evening from 4 to 6 p.m. at Ganesha Park, 1575 N. White Ave.
  • Guests aged 50 and over are cordially invited to a luau at Ontario Town Square, 224 N. Euclid Ave. Admission is $8 for Ontario residents and $10 for non-residents. For more information, visit ontarioca.gov/specialevents.

  • This month from 8 to 10 a.m. Claremont Cars and Coffee Event at Last Name Brewing, 2120 Porterfield Way, Upland, is free and open to the public. All vehicles are welcome.

  • The American Museum of Ceramic Art399 N. Garey Ave, Pomona, opens its newest exhibit, “Architectural Pottery: Ceramics for a Modern Landscape,” at 11 a.m. Admission is $14 for adults, $9 for seniors and $7 for students and Pomona residents.   • Registration for the upcoming Claremont Fastpitch Registration for the season is due by midnight. CFP is open to girls ages 4-14. Players ages 4-6 pay $130, and everyone else pays $180.   • The California Pinners Conferencea two-day event highlighting the creative minds of Pinterest with over 100 classes and 200 vendors, returns to Exhibit Hall 4 at the Fairplex, 1101 W. First St., Claremont, houses “Free for all”, a free and open to the public pop-up art exhibit from 4-9 p.m. Exhibitors must bring a ready-to-hang piece to CLMA on Friday, August 23 between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. to be included in the exhibit.
