Second year students Lexi Lee And Adelhia Ghonda found its way into the net as OSU recorded its first win over a top-10 opponent since beating No. 4 West Virginia 2-1 in double overtime in Stillwater in 2020. It was also the Cowgirls’ first top-10 road victory since a 2-1 double overtime triumph at No. 6 Penn State in 2019.
Nebraska had a 22-13 shot advantage in this game and also had nine corner kicks to OSU’s three, but it was the Cowgirls who made the most of their opportunities.
The game went into halftime goalless.
OSU had two good long-range chances in the first half. The Cowgirls’ first shot of the game came from Logan Heausler with a low shot that was blocked. In the 21stst Minute, Xcaret Pineda fired a shot from 23 meters that went just wide of the near post.
The Cornhuskers also had chances before halftime, but OSU’s defense held firm. The Huskers had nine shots on goal in the first half, including an attempt by Jordan Zade in the 31st minute.st Minute, which was deflected off the near post.

Just eight minutes later, the Cowgirls doubled their lead. After intercepting a pass, Reganne Morris drove the ball to the top of the 18-yard box and sent a pass to Ghonda in the middle of the box. After beating her defender with one touch, Ghonda fired the ball to the near post to make it 2-0.
The Huskers scored four shots on goal in the final 15 minutes of their comeback attempt, but Grace Gordon and OSU’s defense rose to the occasion and pulled off the shutout. Gordon finished the game with four saves, all in the second half.
The Cowgirls return to Neal Patterson Stadium on Sunday for their first home game against Oral Roberts with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
