Colorado man who stalked Taylor Swift sentenced in Nebraska

A Colorado man who made headlines in 2018 for stalking Taylor Swift has been convicted in Hall County of attempted kidnapping of a teenage girl.

Julius Sandrock, 44, was sentenced to three years in prison for first-degree false imprisonment, third-degree assault and terroristic threats. He was given credit for 461 days of time already served.

Sandrock pleaded no contest in May. In exchange for his guilty plea, the attempted kidnapping charge was reduced to first-degree false imprisonment.

According to an affidavit, officers responded to a report of an attempted kidnapping at Pump and Pantry on South Locust Street just before 10 a.m. on October 24, 2022. A 17-year-old male told officers he had just filled up with gas when an unknown male punched him in the face and attempted to kidnap him.

The teenager managed to escape and identified the man as a Buick Encore wearing latex gloves.

The affidavit states that the teenager’s statements were confirmed by video surveillance footage.

An hour after the Grand Island incident, Shelton police responded to a suspicious call about a man wearing a trench coat and latex gloves purchasing rubbing alcohol and more latex gloves. A credit card with Sandrock’s name on it was used to purchase the items, the affidavit states.

Sandrock was later found to own a 2018 Buick Encore that was seen on surveillance footage from Pump and Pantry. GIPD investigators later obtained video from the San Francisco Police Department that showed a man who had Sandrock’s characteristics.

Sandrock made national headlines in April 2018 after the Associated Press reported that he was arrested for stalking singer Taylor Swift after he was caught outside her home wearing a mask and rubber gloves, as well as carrying a knife, rope and ammunition.

TMZ reported that Swift later obtained a restraining order against Sandrock requiring him to stay 1,500 feet away from her, her property, her concerts and other public appearances.
