Together again: NFL teams are celebrating Training Camp: Back Together Weekend starting today, an opportunity for fans across the league to see their teams in action. On Saturday, Steelers fans descended on Saint Vincent College to see the black and gold players, and a large crowd is expected on Sunday.
Coach Mike Tomlin welcomed fans to camp, spoke to them before practice and then introduced the crowd to former Steelers linebacker Jason Gildon, who is part of the Steelers Hall of Honor Class of 2024.
“I just wanted to take a moment to welcome you back to football in 2024,” Tomlin said. “I wanted to thank you for making this the very best training camp in the NFL. We have a lot of new players and coaches and I’ve told them how great this environment is and your presence today attests to that. We’re going to have a great time today. We’re going to work hard. We hope you guys have a great time today. We thank you for bringing energy to what we do.
“And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that we have a new class of Hall of Honor inductees this year, 2024. Some Pittsburgh Steelers legends, and we have one of them in the building today. I want you to join me in welcoming Jason Gildon and congratulating him on his induction into the Hall of Honor.”
