Hello, ladies and gentlemen. Are you ready to rock?
Chris Hurley reports in. It’s Thursday, August 22nd, and here are some of the top headlines surrounding the Boston Bruins and the National Hockey League.
100 Days of Hockey starts on Friday
The Bruins kick off their 100-day hockey campaign this weekend with a three-day fan fest tour of New England.
The tour begins Friday at the Colisée in Lewiston, Maine, with an appearance by Bruins coach Jim Montgomery.
The fan fest takes place on Saturday at the Tsongas Center in Lowell and culminates on Sunday at the Memorial Hall in Plymouth.
Each Fan Fest runs from noon to 4 p.m. and includes a day of fun with Bruins alumni, kid-friendly interactive activities, photo opportunities and giveaways.
Admission is free, but fans are strongly encouraged to register in advance.
Bruins player Elias Lindholm is the latest addition to the Unique Frenction
I dug up an interesting piece of news the other day. It’s the kind of thing you’d find scribbled on the quiz board at The Fours back in the day.
Elias and Hampus Lindholm are the tenth Bruin teammates to wear the same last name on the back of their jersey in the same season. Who were the others? Good question! Here’s a clue: One can be found in the Bruins’ front office.
Mike Sullivan brings close friends into the US team’s coaching staff
In other news, Marshfield native Mike Sullivan, former coach of the Boston Bruins, has named his assistant coaches for the U.S. team for the Four Nations tournament; both are close comrades of Sullivan’s.
More from National Hockey Now:
Montreal: Now that the Canadiens have signed sharpshooter Patrik Laine from the Columbus Blue Jackets, the situation in the team’s attack is much better than predicted a week ago.
Florida: The shortest offseason in Panthers history is coming to an end, training camp begins in a few weeks – and the team’s first two preseason games are just a month away.
Colorado: According to recent reports, it may look like the Colorado Avalanche and Mikko Rantanen are close to a contract extension.
Philadelphia: The Philadelphia Flyers announced their practice squad ahead of rookie camp and Matvei Michkov was officially signed to the NHL roster.
