Broderick Jones is not yet clear about the Pittsburgh Steelers’ plans for the offensive line
You would think that by now there would be some clarity about the situation in the Steelers’ offensive line. Unfortunately, the exact opposite is the case.
Although offensive line coach Pat Meyer said we would see Broderick Jones at left tackle, it looks like he will continue to play right and may start the season there. Jones was asked about the plan involving him and the other tackles, to which he said he had no idea.
“I don’t know yet,” Jones said. “All I know right now is that I’m the right guy.”
Jones was also asked how much time it would take him to get used to the role of left tackle at this level.
“It comes naturally to me,” Jones said. “So honestly, it doesn’t take that long.”
This shouldn’t be a big decision. Jones is a natural left tackle. That’s what the Steelers drafted him for — Omar Khan and Mike Tomlin said so too. They’ve drafted tackles in consecutive drafts because they know Dan Moore isn’t good enough to be a starter, but he continues to get starting jobs and is ranked as a starter in the first order. Let Jones start at left tackle and Troy Fautanu start at right tackle. This shouldn’t be that complicated, but the Steelers are doing it this way for the second season in a row.
