The Atlanta Falcons released former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman John Leglue on Monday. Leglue, an undrafted free agent in the 2019 NFL Draft, has been with six different NFL teams since entering the league.
His most successful stint in the NFL came with the Steelers from 2020-2022, where Leglue spent most of his time on the team’s practice squad but was elevated to the active roster after a series of injuries. In his career, he has started five games and played in seven games.
After graduating from Tulane University, the Louisiana native signed with the Denver Broncos before moving to the New Orleans Saints and later the Green Bay Packers. He spent 2019 and part of 2020 with the Packers, but after his release, he signed a contract with the Steelers.
Leglue spent the entire 2021 and 2022 seasons with the Steelers, but they did not re-sign him after the 2022 season. As a result, he signed with the Tennessee Titans, but was released after training camp. The Falcons signed him to the practice squad in November and re-signed him after the season.
Leglue can play all five positions along the offensive line, but is most comfortable playing guard. His versatility has helped him stay in the NFL, but he couldn’t overcome some natural limitations to make another active NFL roster after the Steelers signed him to the active roster in 2021.
