Athletic Hall of Fame seeks nominees – The Madison Record

Longtime Madison Record reporter Bob Labbe was inducted into the Huntsville-Madison County Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014.

MADISON – The Huntsville-Madison County Athletic Hall of Fame has added nearly 400 inductees to its list of special honorees, including coaches, athletes and supporters of local sports. The locally run organization is currently seeking nominees from the public for its Class of 2025, which will be honored at the Hall of Fame’s annual induction banquet in April 2025.

Nominations can be submitted in three different ways:

  • About the Hall of Fame website: hmcahof.com
  • Mail to PO Box 566, Huntsville, AL 35804
  • By contacting a Hall of Fame member listed on the website

The deadline for nominations is September 30th.

Nominators are asked to provide information in support of the candidate, such as statistics, links, clippings.

To be considered for the Hall of Fame, candidates must:

  • You must be a resident or have lived in Huntsville or Madison County for ten consecutive years (not including residence on a military base or college campus).
  • A candidate who completed his or her athletic performance prior to moving to Huntsville or Madison County must have been a continuous resident of that county for ten years.
  • A candidate must be at least 40 years old at the time of admission
  • A non-retired coach or administrator must have at least 25 years of service in athletics to be eligible.
  • A candidate’s sporting achievements will be of paramount importance, but his or her post-sporting life as a citizen and community contributor will also be considered.

The Hall of Fame represents twenty different sports, as well as members from refereeing, media, education and administration. Members also include individuals with ties to Huntsville who have achieved excellence at the local, state, national and international levels.
