Art Beats brings together work from artists and filmmakers from around the world, supports young artists and offers students the opportunity to spend a week participating in workshops and learning from industry experts.
Through an open submission process, Art Beats invited work on three themes: Ecovisions, Untold Stories and Escape. We received photographs, artworks, films and videos from artists including current students, alumni and staff of Lancaster and Sunway, as well as artists from around the world. The exhibition provides a valuable opportunity for those at the beginning of their creative careers to exhibit alongside those who already have decades of experience.
Exhibiting artists include: Nikita Andrejev, Belva Atsil, Made Virgie Avianthy, Phisenukwat Chai, Gerry Davies, Sky Fong, Mohammad Ghorbankarimi, Ian Hunt, Hamideh Javadi, James Kachan, Md Masudul Islam Khan,Xiaohan Luo, Gregory McCool, Ailsa Madill, Isabel Crabtree Parker, Clare Samuel and Peggy Pui Kwan You.
As part of the exhibition we are proud to present a commissioned work by Art Beats / Lancaster Arts. Flight, how it feelsa new immersive audio installation by artist Leo Mercer Exploring conflicting feelings around flying as part of the Lancaster Arts 2024 annual thematic programme, Flight.
Art Beats has been made possible by Lancaster University’s Global Advancement Fund and is a testament to our shared ambition to connect art, artists, ideas and audiences internationally. For more information on the festival programme, please visit: https://www.lancaster.ac.uk/art-beats-festival/
