ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — A break-in was reported at a campaign office of former President Donald Trump in Virginia over the weekend, and authorities are investigating whether anything was stolen.
It happened Sunday in an Ashburn office rented by the Trump for President 2024 campaign, which also serves as the headquarters of the Virginia 10th District Republican Committee, according to a press release from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office in Northern Virginia.
The sheriff’s office was contacted around 9 p.m. on Sunday. The office said it has surveillance video showing someone wearing dark clothing, a dark hat and carrying a backpack. The investigation is ongoing.
“It is rare for a political campaign or party office to be broken into,” Sheriff Mike Chapman said in a statement. “We are committed to identifying the suspect, investigating why it happened and determining what may have been taken and what may have been left behind.”
Neither the Trump team nor the 10th District Republican Committee immediately responded to emails seeking comment.
