5 trade proposals the Steelers could make if they fail to get Brandon Aiyuk

For anyone following Pittsburgh Steelers news, it’s been a wild week.

Brandon Aiyuk has been rumored to be heading to Pittsburgh in a trade deal. This has been a hot topic over the past week as many speculated that a deal was close to being finalized. However, nothing has come of it so far and it is possible that the Black and Gold team will not get this star receiver.

The 49ers are only willing to trade Aiyuk if they get an attractive offer. According to the latest news, the Steelers are the last horse in the race, and Omar Khan is not afraid to play long to get Aiyuk at a reasonable price. Time will tell how San Francisco will ultimately handle the whole situation. Either they will hold on to him, or Pittsburgh will be the destination.

If the 49ers hold on to Aiyuk, it is believed that the Steelers will continue to look on the transfer market for potential receiver improvements.

A potential top name could be DK Metcalf.

There are countless reasons why this makes sense, one of the most important being Russell Wilson. The two have remained close since their time together in Seattle and train together in the offseason. Seattle has a new coaching staff and the team appears to be headed for a down season. If the Seahawks are willing to trade Metcalf for a reasonable offer, he would be a good backup option if the Steelers miss out on Aiyuk.

Sometimes in the NFL, the recency effect is used as a reason for reporting.

Robert Woods had a stellar game last week in the season opener against the Steelers. He’s still a solid, experienced receiver who can contribute in both the slot and outside positions on offense. He may not be the player he once was, but he would be an improvement both in a starting position and in depth at that position. It might not be as big an improvement as others on this list, but Woods would be a cheaper option.

If the Black and Golds were to move from one star receiver to the next, he could be their man!

There weren’t many rumors about CeeDee Lamb being traded during the offseason, but the mood has changed recently. He’s been one of the best receivers in the league for the past few years. He’s looking for a new contract that will pay him a good salary, similar to Aiyuk. Dallas recently openly stated that they see no reason to rush a deal. Now Lamb is joining the rumor mill after expressing his disapproval for the situation that’s been playing out lately.

If Aiyuk doesn’t make it to the Steelers, Lamb could be an even better choice.

Similar to the Metcalf connection, Tyler Lockett has a great relationship with Wilson.

He’s an older receiver, but he still puts up good numbers. The Seahawks might be willing to trade him because of his salary cap, and they might want to give the younger receivers bigger roles. Lockett would be a great pick and shouldn’t cost as much money as someone like Metcalf or Aiyuk. Lockett could be the Steelers’ first choice if they miss out on Aiyuk.

He may not be the level of receiver many want, but he could be a cheap option to acquire that would give the Steelers a young player with some potential.

Treylon Burks was a first-round pick just two years ago. Injuries and poor performance have limited his performance in the NFL so far. This is a big year for him in terms of his future career in the NFL. Perhaps he still has untapped potential at just 24 years old. He would cost little to acquire and the Titans don’t seem to like him anymore. Sometimes a change of scenery is what a player needs most.
